Thomas K. Brueckner, CLTC – President and Chief Executive Officer

Thomas K. BruecknerThomas K. Brueckner, CLTC, is a nationally recognized financial educator and market historian, published author, radio talk show host, seminar speaker, national columnist and mentor to other advisors, and an insurance advisor to more than 600 of his own successfully retired clients, now spread throughout 21 states and seven countries.

He has taught strategies in Safe Money Solutions at colleges, conference centers, and retirement planning workshops, from Augusta, Maine to Sun Lakes, Arizona. His ideas and articles have appeared in National Underwriter, Senior Market Advisor, Broker World, Agent Journal, New Hampshire Magazine, and the New Hampshire Union Leader, as well as dozens of other national and regional publications. New Hampshire retirees have long enjoyed “The Safe Money Hour with Thom Brueckner” on WFEA 1370-AM in Manchester, as a source of insight, commentary, and balanced information, as well as Thom’s occasional interviews with industry insiders and local experts.

Since 2002, Thom has been an approved member of The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). MDRT is recognized internationally as the Premier Association of Financial Professionals®. Thom and his staff are extremely proud to have been awarded the “Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics” in the small business category by the New Hampshire Better Business Bureau (2010.) This statewide award recognizes one small business each year that exceeds all others in their exceptionally high standards of ethical business practices.

In 2011, Thom was named a top five national finalist of Senior Market Advisor magazine’s Advisor of the Year award. The prestigious industry award recognizes those who are successful, trustworthy, committed, ethical, community-focused—and most importantly, live by the motto of always putting their clients’ interests first.

In addition, Thom has been a recipient of NAIFA’s Quality Award for outstanding ethics and excellence every year since 2011, as well as the Business Excellence Award in Professional Services given by the New Hampshire Business Review (NHBR, 2011).

Leon Simoneau – Senior Associate

Leon SimoneauA Nashua native, and the eighth of 11 children, Leon’s family has deep roots within the New Hampshire community. After graduating from Bishop Guertin High School, he continued his education at New Hampshire College and the University of New Hampshire, and then pursued a career in banking and finance. Throughout an accomplished career in business management, Leon has repeatedly distinguished himself as one of the top managers in his field.

An avid market-watcher, with a passion for helping retirees secure their life’s savings, Leon is blessed with extraordinary common sense—a strength he puts to great use educating his clients in English, not “Financial-ese.” Rather than endure risk to achieve yields, Leon shows his clients how to earn modest yields in the 3 percent to 8 percent range during rising markets—without forfeiting those interest credits during a market decline. 

A large part of Leon's career is spent helping federal employees understand and maximize their government benefits as they near retirement. As a Federal Benefits Specialist through Voluntary Employee Benefit Systems (VEBS), Leon teaches benefit classes and also meets privately with Federal employees throughout New England.

According to Mr. Brueckner, who has known Leon since 1999, “Leon is a natural, honest as the day is long, and a joy to have in the office. Senior Financial is blessed to have recruited him, and his devoted clients are blessed to have him overseeing their savings.”

Gina L. Mercier – Office Manager

With two decades experience in managing small businesses, Gina is uniquely qualified to research, develop, and manage every aspect of Senior Financial Resources’ operations systems. 

As Mr. Brueckner’s original employee in 2002, Gina has witnessed the company's exponential growth first-hand over the last decade. She trains, supervises and evaluates our staff and administers HR services such as our pension plan, healthcare coverage, benefits and employee policies. She tracks all client pending asset transfers and handles payroll, accounts payable, company financials and annual budgets. Gina also manages liability & W/C insurances, as well as producer licensing and continuing education. Gina also plans and coordinates all of our financial seminars, and updates our nationally recognized seminar presentation with current market, industry and economic data. 

Long a favorite of our most tenured clients, Mr. Brueckner says of Gina, “After their annual review meetings, clients will often shake my hand warmly—and then go hug Gina on their way out. Her thoughtful, caring ways are a big part of the ‘personal touch’ reputation that SFR enjoys throughout southern New Hampshire, and she is as vigilant in defending our brand as she is dedicated to building it. Gina graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington after earning her B.S. in 1990. Gina holds her New Hampshire Life Producer's Life Insurance license, and is a Notary Public. She and her husband, Matt, live in Hooksett, NH, where they continue restoring an old Cape they bought in 2007. She is honored to volunteer with the Do You Know Him? ministry, serving the homeless of Manchester on the weekends. She is also an avid cook, gardener and quilter.

Sherry Simoneau, CLTC – Life and Long-Term Care Specialist

Sherry SimoneauWith more than 25 years experience serving both New England and Florida retirees, Sherry’s tenure in the insurance industry exceeds even that of our CEO, Thomas Brueckner. Sherry has helped hundreds of clients solve a myriad of cost and insurability challenges, first by listening and then by exhaustive research, shopping out only those solutions that address both her client’s problem as well as their budget.

In 2010, Sherry distinguished herself among the truly elite in the area of long-term care planning, by completing the Master’s CLTC course and receiving her “Master CLTC” designation. This makes her the rarest of all financial professionals: one with decades of experience, yet one whose education and knowledge of state-of-the-art solutions are both exhaustive and current.

A graduate of Endicott College and Tampa College with a B.A. in Business, Sherry holds multiple insurance licenses in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

 Brittany Terrizzi - Outreach Coordinator

Brittany Terrizzi

Brittany brings warmth and compassion to the position of Outreach Coordinator, as the primary liaison to our cherished Client Family.  Her dedication, work ethic and professionalism have made an enormous difference in our team’s capabilities during SFR’s exponential growth over the last two years.

A native of Nashua, she graduated from Nashua High School North, and attended Colby Sawyer College for one year studying Neo-Natal Nursing.  She was working at a local restaurant when we first recognized her gift for customer service, an uncanny ability to anticipate needs, and potential for success in business. She first came to work for us as a part time admin, but was promoted to a full time position early in 2013.

Says Gina Mercier, our Operations Manager, of Brittany: “She is bright, creative, cheerful, highly organized, and a pleasure to work with.  When it comes to servicing our Client Family, she shines.  Although she is the youngest member of our team, she is an ‘old soul’.  Brittany’s love of history and insightful ability to talk with anyone, across multiple generational boundaries, make her an invaluable asset.  She is so engaging; our clients adore her!”
